Derbyshire Psychotherapist

Hi I’m Lisa…

Some Things About Me…

  • I am a deeply curious, life-long learner.

  • I love deep and meaningful conversations with likeminded people.

  • I am a work in progress with my own psychological blind spots and emotional tender spots. We are all growing and evolving. You’ll no doubt mention something I’ve been feeling too.

  • I don’t fit into ‘societal norms’ boxes and never have. I didn’t hit any key milestones in life at the time you were ‘meant to’. I am not a disrupter as such, I mostly go in my own direction.

  • I’m a champion for individuality and people being themselves. I don’t ascribe to the belief that we have to be one thing or another. We get to understand and embrace all the different parts or sides to ourselves.

  • I’m a fan of the aged and worn; people and things that are a little bit faded and lived in is my thing.

  • My first job was designing socks and my second was working in a famous chocolates factory. Yes, they are real jobs. I was fortunate to travel the world with this work and still have a deep love for both.

  • I love getting lost in books and tiny coffee shops off the beaten track. You might find me there one day. If you do please say hello.

  • I think Ibiza is a misunderstood island. It has many sides to it. A bit like most of us. I met my husband and got married there.

I’m a modern trauma informed therapist for complex times, and this is what I know to be true.

You’re not having a hard time because you’re getting something (life) wrong. You’re likely to be having a hard time because life is complex, what you’ve experienced is hard and what you might be going through now is hard.

And I am guessing like many people you have been mostly trying to navigate this alone.

Although I am a big believer in keeping things simple it’s impossible to avoid how complex, nuanced and unique each of our experiences are.

I help guide you to safely unpack this to make sense of what’s going on for you. We explore what’s tripping you up and getting in the way.

I work from a bespoke cabin in my garden. This calming space will become an important part of your therapy as you gain a deeper understanding of yourself and re discover a sense of self-regard and self-worth.
